Something that shocked me in the morning

For all people in Malaysia or in Singapore, people who embrace Islam cannot touch or eat non-halal food like pork and wine...well, this is a stereotype that we all know and we know that everywhere you are, all Muslims are all the same....Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, etc...

For some reasons which I have no idea why is like that, and to my shock too, Uzbekistan's Muslims eat pork and drink beer/wine ---> hard drinks!!!

My supervisor in Lee Wee Nam Library in NTU just came back from her trip in Korea and Uzbekistan. She told us her story during the trip and she is a Muslim. And usually for all of us as known, Muslims eat only halal food..What's halal food anyway? Is it non-pork and non-hard drink related considered as Halal? Maybe the chicken can be considered as non-halal too if the chicken is slaughtered in a brutal way...

Well, in Uzbekistan, the Muslims eat pork because it's part of their culture and they rear pigs since many many years ago. Uzbeks are farmers in a place called steppe( a inland meadow ). They rear pigs and chicken. But, they also have cow in my opinion. OK, maybe the cow they rear need more water than others. Uzbekistan, geographically is isolated from the sea and they hardly find water source except by one way, the river that flows from Aral Sea to Artic...This river has been stopped flowing for years and the river has become a lake instead of flowing motion thing.

They eat pigs, and I don't know why..
But, they don't eat pigs during fasting month of Ramadan. Rather than eat pigs, they eat fish!
They believe that eating fish will purify every sins they have done including eating the pigs..
Why eating fish can purify everything? Perhaps this can be a very good excuse for them..

Water is hardly found in Uzbekistan. So, water is a holy source for fish to survive. And since water is holy, for them, fish is also considered as holy food for them. That's why can purify all the sins they did.

Now, for the case of Hari Raya Puasa, I have no idea whether they still enjoying the pigs or having fishes as their main course meal. But, one thing I am very sure is Uzbekistan and Turkey are the countries who embrace the same belief---> Non radical Islamic beliefs..

Maybe eating char siew or siew mai in Uzbekistan is really a nice thing to enjoy for us(chinese)
